Body of Missing Fisherman Found After Two-Day Search in Kep sea

Kep Province, August 2, 2025 — The body of a fisherman who had gone missing after falling from a boat was recovered on the morning of August 1, 2025, in the coastal sea off Kep province.

The victim was identified as Neang Than, a 46-year-old man from Prey Tap village, Boeung Sala Nakhon commune, Kampong Trach district, Kampot province. His wife currently resides in Kampeng village, Angkor commune, Damnak Chang-Ear district, Kep province.

According to a relative, the victim, who had little experience with boating, had turned to fishing after being unable to find work in construction. He reportedly fell overboard just a few days after setting out to sea.

Local authorities stated that the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on July 31. Despite immediate search efforts by the marine police, strong winds and rough seas hampered recovery efforts. The body was eventually discovered and retrieved the following morning.

Police confirmed after a forensic examination that the victim had drowned and showed no signs of foul play.
